Mad Mex wins “best mex in NSW”September 2010
Mad Mex was voted “Best Mexican” restaurant in New South Wales in the “I Love FOOD Awards.”
In the annual awards organised by the LifeStyle FOOD Channel on Foxtel and Austar, Mad Mex topped the votes in the “Best Mexican/Latin American” category, snatching the title away from local competitor, Guzman Y Gomez.
Through in-store, online, viral and social media platforms, Mad Mex’s campaign to win the coveted award hit full stride in August with multiple touch points for customers to vote for the popular eatery. In all seven Mad Mex locations, point of purchase marketing materials coupled with in-store iPad voting opportunities were supported by a viral and social media campaign.
Mad Mex founder Clovis Young commented, “Our customers are loyal and vocal, and I wish I could thank each and every one that helped us win the ‘Best Mexican’ category for NSW. We saw incredible uptake across Facebook, Twitter and our email database, but the in-store marketing component was raised to a new level and I’m sure that was a core component of our success.”
With more than 100,000 votes cast across 26 categories, 2010 was the largest response to the I Love FOOD Awards. National winners are featured on The LifeStyle FOOD Channel, and state winners are featured on the website, www.lifestylefood.com.au.
Young added, “The fact that the top winner in the national category is a well established traditional Mexican restaurant tells us that more and more Australians are enjoying and further exploring the tastes of Mexico. Our fresh, healthy takes on the cuisine is getting more and more popular, and as we continue to expand I’m confident we’ll be a true contender to take out the national prize in years to come.”
Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill’s NSW locations are in Darlinghurst, Circular Quay, Castle Towers in Castle Hill, Westpoint in Blacktown, Macquarie Centre in North Ryde and Westfield Tuggerah. In Melbourne, Mad Mex is located in Chapel Street, Windsor.
