Mad Mex brings fast tacos to WellingtonMarch 2013
Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill will be opening their first New Zealand store today, Tuesday 19 March at 10:30am in Lambton Square in Wellington’s CBD.
American born owner, Clovis Young, brought the Baja style Mexican food phenomenon to Australia that in the past few years has been taking Australia by storm. Mad Mex is famous for their quick service of food that is cooked in front of the customers and prepared using only the freshest and most authentic ingredients.
Young’s bold idea to bring a menu to Australia that blends the rich flavours of Mexico with the health-conscious cuisine of California has made Mad Mex one of the fastest growing casual food brands in Australia. Young had two visions; to build a restaurant that would become the most loved and respected Mexican brand in Australia; and to develop a Fast Casual business model centred on customer experience.
But it’s not the business idea that has made Mad Mex successful; it is passion, integrity and authenticity that Mad Mex is able to offer, focusing on sourcing the best possible ingredients and developing a Mexican menu inspired by Mexican cuisine with a Mad Mex twist. With the first store opening in November 2007, Young has opened 32 stores since and plans to keep expanding the brand over the years.
Even with greater responsibilities as the business grows, Clovis is still hands on, keenly focused on new product development, the culture and business network required to maintain and sustain Mad Mex’s growth across different markets. Constantly thinking about improvement and growth, Young is dedicated to the success of Mad Mex and will support James Tucker who is opening the first Mad Mex store in New Zealand in Wellington’s Lambton Square. “We will bring the spirit of Mexico to life by serving fresh and authentic flavours in a fun environment filled with passionate people who love Latin culture”, explains Tucker who is coming home to Wellington to focus on this venture.
