MAD MEX ranks 12th on BRW FAST 100 listOctober 2011
Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill has taken out the top spot in the Accommodation and Food Services category in the 2011 BRW Fast 100 list, one of only three food brands to make the final list this year.
In its debut on the coveted list, the Mad Mexican food brand was ranked in 12th, ahead of fellow food brands Beach Burrito Company at number 34 and Pie Face at number 49. The accolade comes only weeks after the brand was also awarded the Runner-Up trophy for Emerging Franchisor of the Year at the Franchising Council of Australia’s annual ceremony.
2011 has proven to be a period of rapid expansion for Mad Mex, which last night officially celebrated the opening of its fourth new store in as many months, located in the Westfield Sydney Central Plaza food court. The brand is continuing to expand with a Darling Harbour location scheduled for November and additional locations underway in Perth due to open before Christmas.
“Mad Mex’s 12th place ranking on the 2011 BRW Fast 100 list is an honour and really a testament to the excitement and enthusiasm our customers have for the Mad Mex brand,” says founder Clovis Young. “We are especially pleased to be the top food concept out of only three food brands to make the list and pleased to be a bricks and mortar retail concept achieving competitive results.”
A former Wall Street trader, Young founded the brand in Australia in late 2007, personally managing the first store in Sydney’s trendy Surry Hills for the first 18 months before beginning work on expansion. The brand now operates 13 restaurants along Australia’s east coast.
The 2011 BRW Fast 100 list ranks Australia’s fastest growing, public and private, small and medium companies. The quality of the 2011 BRW Fast 100 was as high as ever, as businesses and entrepreneurs from all of Australia’s major industries presented the solid business practices required to deliver growth in a downturn.
